We believe training is most impactful when it’s tailored to the heart of your work. You choose the topics that matter, and we’ll create a professional development experience that aligns with your values and advances quality across every classroom. From design through OA designation*, we ensure your PD investment meets Ohio’s standards and supports lasting excellence.
How It Works
Step 1: Schedule Your Discovery Call
We start with a conversation — not a contract. During this discovery call, we’ll learn about your center’s vision, goals, and current challenges. Together, we’ll identify your professional development priorities, discuss your desired outcomes, and determine which training format (virtual or on-site) best serves your team.
Step 2: Design Your PD Plan
After the call, we’ll begin crafting a tailored training experience that aligns with your objectives and supports your educators where they are. From topic selection to learning outcomes, we design your PD to be both meaningful and measurable — ensuring it’s relevant, practical, and engaging for your staff.
Step 3: Review and Approve Your Plan
You’ll receive a detailed outline of your customized PD Day to review. This gives you the opportunity to confirm that the focus, flow, and outcomes align perfectly with your team’s needs. We’ll make any necessary adjustments before submission to ensure everything reflects your vision and meets Ohio’s standards.
Step 4: Submit for OA Designation
Once you’ve approved the plan, we handle the submission process for an Ohio Approval Designation.* Our team manages the online submission, ensures compliance with all requirements, and communicates with OCCRA reviewers as needed. If adjustments are requested, we will revise promptly to secure final approval.
Step 5: Schedule & Pay for Training
Your Center. Your Goals. Our Expertise.
From first conversation to final training day, we make professional development simple, meaningful, and fully compliant — so you can focus on what matters most: your staff and the children you serve.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is a full Professional Development Day?
2. How many professional development hours are required?
Professional development hour requirements vary by role and participation in Step Up To Quality (SUTQ). DCY requires a minimum of 6 hours of approved professional development each year. Educators in SUTQ-rated programs are required to complete a minimum of 10 hours, while administrators are required to complete up to 15 hours each year.
For center educators needing 10 hours of training, we find it beneficial to schedule two professional development days throughout the year. This approach allows teams to meet hour requirements without fatigue, deepen learning across multiple topics, and create space for meaningful application and reflection — all while staying compliant with SUTQ expectations.
3. Is your training approved for Step Up To Quality (SUTQ)?
4. How far in advance should I schedule a PD Day?
5. How many training hours can staff earn in one day?
A full Professional Development Day allows programs to complete a significant portion of their required annual training hours in one experience. This helps reduce the need for multiple trainings spread across evenings, weekends, or nap times throughout the year.
Typically, there will be at least 6 to 7 hours of training. However, the number of hours your staff will receive depends on the number of trainings you schedule.
SUTQ educators are required to earn a minimum of 10 professional development hours annually and may find two separate PD days helpful to fulfill this requirement.
6. Do we need to close the center to offer a PD Day?
7. What topics are covered during a full-day training?
8. What is Guided Implementation Access?
Professional development should not end when the training day concludes.
Select tiers of our Professional Development Days include Guided Implementation Access—a structured, time-limited support option designed to help teachers confidently apply new strategies while remaining fully aligned with center leadership.
This feature was created to support directors and owners by reinforcing training concepts in real classroom moments—without replacing leadership, decision-making, or established center policies.
Guided Implementation Access was designed to complement strong leadership, not compete with it. By supporting teachers as they practice new skills, directors often experience fewer interruptions, more thoughtful conversations, and improved consistency across classrooms.
The result is a more confident team, a calmer learning environment, and professional development that continues to make an impact long after the training day ends.
9. Can the training be offered on-site?
10. Will the training feel overwhelming for staff?
11. How does a PD Day benefit our program long-term?
12. How should we explain a PD Day to families?
